KAO DA JE BILO NEKADA
2025 - ONGOING
‘Kao Da Je Bilo Nekada’ is an ongoing art and photography project that combines linocut prints of Yugoslavian monuments dedicated to women with the urban textures of abandoned structures across the former Yugoslavia. These forgotten sites range from enigmatic ruins with obscure origins to buildings erected during the Yugoslav era, now left to decay. The weathered surfaces, cracks, and worn details of these structures echo the tactile qualities captured in the linocut prints—imbuing the monuments with a rough, textured, and almost rugged presence. Yet, while the physical monuments convey a sense of resilience, the juxtaposition with their dilapidated surroundings reveals a contrasting narrative, highlighting the evolving perception and fading memory of these cultural symbols.
